Established in 1867 Stannah Lifts have been manufacturing in the UK for over 150 years and remains in private family ownership. In 1974 Stannah first moved their manufacturing facility to Andover and in 1975 produced the world’s first stairlift. This association with Andover has continued since and Stannah is now one of the largest employers in the area.
To maintain Stannah’s position as market leader, new facilities was required to grow and relocate their operations, hence why the decision was made to develop a new facility at Andover Business Park.

Andover Business Park has established itself as a prime logistics and manufacturing site following the arrival of significant operators such as Coop, West-Coast, Rich’s- which have benefited from its current infrastructure, transport links. In addition, as part of any modern business park additional facilities have also been developed with Travelodge, Pure gym, Costa Coffee and Marstons all occupiers of the park.
The conceptual development of the building was influenced by the architectural typology of the surrounding buildings, utilising a colour palette materials and aesthetic that has been used throughout the Andover Business Park. The aim was to ensure that the design reflected the identity of the park and respects the overall masterplan intent.
The primary design features were focused on the front facing elevation which fronts the gateway to the Business Park clearly identifying the entrance through framing and material changes. Elsewhere, the concept uses changes in colour and texture to break down the mass of the building and avoid vast expanses of uniformity.
The building was designed to meet the specific needs of the end user however it also follows institutional standards for an industrial/warehouse unit, creating versatile accommodation that can meet the future needs of the occupier.
